Terms of Use

Last updated: 25 October 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing or using the Rock ID app (shown as Rock Identifier • Stone ID in the App Store, the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is published by Orkhan Alizada.

2. What the App does

Rock ID uses artificial intelligence to help identify rocks, minerals, crystals, gems and fossils from photos. It gives educational information about what it identifies, such as how it formed, hardness, an estimated value and rarity range, cleaning and care, simple field tests and lookalikes.

3. Purchases

You can use the App without an account. One identification is free. After that, identifying needs Premium or a scan pack.

Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA) applies to your use of the App: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes; not to reverse engineer, copy or modify it; not to misuse the identification service, for example with automated or excessive requests or with photos you have no right to use or that are unlawful; and not to use the App for any illegal purpose. A daily limit on identifications applies to everyone.

5. Content and accuracy

Identifications are estimates made by artificial intelligence. They can be wrong. Results are for general information and education only. I do not guarantee that any identification or other information is correct, complete or up to date.

6. Value, safety and collecting rules

Value and rarity ranges are rough estimates for general interest, not appraisals. Real prices depend on size, quality, origin and the buyer. Ask a qualified appraiser or gemologist before you buy, sell or insure anything.

Safety notes are general information, not a safety guarantee. Some minerals are toxic or radioactive, and a wrong identification can hide that. Do not lick, eat, grind or heat a specimen, and keep unknown specimens away from small children.

Collecting rules differ by place and change over time. The App does not tell you what is legal where you are. The "Can I collect here?" links open official websites that I do not control. Always check the rules of the land owner or the responsible authority before you collect, and get permission on private land. You are responsible for following them.

7. Privacy

Please read the Privacy Policy to see how the App handles your information.

8. Intellectual property

The App and its content are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You keep ownership of the photos you take or choose. When you identify a photo, the App sends it to the identification service and to OpenAI, as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, I SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING DAMAGES OR HARM RESULTING FROM RELYING ON AN IDENTIFICATION, A VALUE ESTIMATE OR SAFETY INFORMATION, OR FROM COLLECTING IN BREACH OF LOCAL RULES. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.

10. Termination

I may suspend or end your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to these terms

I may change these Terms at any time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the new Terms.
